We also offer staff development courses that can be completed during twilight training sessions or in service training days. Like our student courses, the programmes are both theoretical and practical in style, but they explore more sophisticated themes of team working, communication and leadership. The courses are carefully tailored to an individual school's needs but would normally follow a structured 3 stage process.

1. Team Diagnostics

Our facilitators are able to establish the agenda for each staff team by posing a series of challenging questions some examples of which are:

  • What should our team be like?
  • How do we integrate new members?
  • Is our allocation of roles and responsibilities right?
  • How do we work together?
  • How will our team evolve over time?
  • How will we cope with conflict?
  • What's good about our team?
  • What would we like to change?

2. Team Development

Staff Development

Through a series of challenging and enjoyable exercises staff teams are able to observe and reflect on common behaviours and interactions. This enables them to celebrate their successes and spend time discussing things that they feel should change.



Exercises are carefully designed to be fully inclusive and meet the needs and wishes of all staff members.

3. Review and Action Planning

Using a carefully structured review and action planning process involving a combination of buddy pairs, small and whole team discussions facilitators are able to return team members to the agenda set earlier to summarise key learning points and to identify changes to be implemented. Actions are accompanied by team members responsible together with precise methods and time scales.

4. Report

Every staff team attending such a programme receives a thorough report on learning outcomes and summarising action plans together with a facilitator perspective on team performance during the event.

Staff development programmes can be organised at the school's own premises or nearby hotel and conference venues.
